Thanks for checking in to win your day on another Win It Minute. Well, today I want to flip the script a little bit, and I want to talk about the why you should have a positive mindset instead of the how. We’ve been talking about how to do it in the past, but sometimes the why in life is more important than the how. And the quote I want to start off with is we can’t help everyone in life, but everyone can help someone.

And it’s never more evident than a story I’ve recently read about how in the early ’80s, when the US and Russia were in a Cold War. Everyday, I remember as a kid, we are on the thread of obliteration, a nuclear war. We were going to go to war with big, bad Russia. Well it’s all about a mindset. The Soviet union thought their way of life was right. We thought our way of life was right, and no one was going to change our minds about it.

Well, something simple happened one day when some Russian dignitaries were actually in America visiting former President, George Bush on a peacekeeping talk. They went to a grocery store to go get some food to prepare for that night’s dinner. And they saw the incredible array of vegetables, and fruits, and meats that were available to the average American. They were awestruck, just blown away.

Something that we as Americans take for granted. They had never seen anything like that in their life. So they thought, wow, if the average American has this high quality of life eating this amount of fruits and vegetables every day, they can have a pick of their choice, maybe our way of life isn’t right. Maybe we need to change our mindset and save our people for the right of the rest of the people around us. And that’s what they did. They changed their mind.

And despite what I think that, Rocky and Ivan Drago ended the Cold War themselves, it was actually this simple moment in time when it was a mind shift change by those Russian dignitaries. And they brought it back to their country and said, “Maybe our way of life isn’t right.”

And if you do that in life, if you just use your thought process to move yourself in the direction you want in a more positive manner, you can make a big impact on those around. Think about why you’re doing it instead of how to do it, and you’ll have more of a profound impact. Most people live reactively, as in life happens. Yeah, life does happen, but you can dictate what’s happened to you by dictating how you happen to the world.

So get out there and realize how your actions impact those around you in either a positive or negative way. And just make an awesome day for everyone around you. Now get out and Win your day today! #Wintheday #Winitminute
