Thanks for joining us for Win It Minute. Today, I want to start off with a quick quote that says, “Life is not happening to you. Life is responding to you,” and what it boils down to is that all of life, we all face challenges or obstacles, but it’s how you respond to those situations that makes all the difference in the outcome. Do you respond in a negative way or in a positive way? That’s an opportunity because every single day is an opportunity for greatness if you look at it that way. We are what we see in the world. It reminds me of a fascinating story I read one time about Malcolm Gladwell. He was studying professional hockey players coming out of Canada. Just for those Blackhawks and Lightning fans, I want to throw in a hockey quote, but he found that almost 70% of professional hockey players coming out of Canada were born the first three months of the year.

Now, it wasn’t some magical formula; every single year, year in and year out. It was just simply that they were essentially the oldest kids in their class. If you’ve ever seen four and five year old kids, that seven, eight month, nine month difference on the other kids makes a significant difference. But what it boils down to is that way others view these kids as superstars or potential professional athletes just kind of shaped the way that these kids viewed the world and themselves. People viewed them so positively like they were superstars, that it became a self fulfilling prophecy, that they rose to the top because people viewed them that way.

Now, what of you did that in your work life? If you had a coworker that came to you with an idea or a suggestion and you said, “Hey, phenomenal idea you. You’re very smart, you’re a superstar.” Or if people ask you to work with them on a project and you dove right in and, “Yeah, I’d love to work with you. You’re a superstar around here.” People might start to view you as a superstar down the line if you have that attitude. Like I said, what you project out in life echoes right back to you. So remember that. When you’re projecting positivity out in the world, I guarantee you positivity will come responding right back to you. So go out there, make it an awesome day. Thanks for joining us. Win your day today! #Wintheday
