I read an amazing interview with Sylvester Stallone and what an incredible mindset he had when trying to get Rocky produced and the amazing obstacles he had to endure and overcome. It is proof that when faced with obstacles if you have the right mindest you can overcome them and become better for them. It reminds me of a great quote that states, “The harder I work, it seems the luckier I get.” A lot of people in life think that people that are successful athletes, musicians, actors, performers or just business people, there’s a lot of luck that has to do with it. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. Luck is all about having the right mindset. As I said, some people find that the more they work, the more they put in, the more they have a positive mental attitude, the more they become lucky. Lucky people tend to see the positive side of the ill fortunes they’ve been dealt in their hand and imagine how they can always get better, not worse.

Most successful gamblers attribute 95% of their success to having a positive mental attitude and realizing that when you’re dealt a bad hand, there’s always a winning hand right around the corner. You can’t ever give up. You’ve got to keep persevering. You got to keep a positive mental aspect.

One of my favorite stories about gambling and having a positive mental aspect is Sylvester Stallone and Rocky Balboa. The script for Rocky , he actually wrote the whole thing in 20 hours. He just churned it out one day when he was inspired and he kept at it. And he was trying to sell the script with no success until the point where he was dead broke. He had no money to even eat. He had to stand outside of a liquor store and sell his best friend in life, his dog, Butkus, for $25.

That was the lowest of all low points for him, but he didn’t give up. He kept persevering and he kept hawking that script until he finally found somebody that wanted to buy it. They offered him $100,000 for the script. But the caveat was is Sylvester Stallone believed so much in it that he said, “I have to play the part of Rocky Balboa.” Producers did not want him playing the part at all and he was continually told he could not act.
